Quit bitchin' about how hot Paris is in the Summer!

Just thought I should note, for our European Fodorites, that it reached 125 degrees Fahrenheit today in Baker California. That's 51.6 degrees Centigrade!!!!

A useful factoid for the next American who bitches about how hot it is in your town.

:-)

mike_b12 Jul 6th, 2007 09:40 AM

yea , but is a dry heat!

PatrickLondon Jul 6th, 2007 09:41 AM

So that's where our summer's gone. We had it a while ago - I think it was a Tuesday - and then it somehow disappeared.

kerouac Jul 6th, 2007 09:47 AM

Paris may have reached 68°F today.

PalenQ Jul 6th, 2007 09:59 AM

but it's a wet 68 degrees probably

kleeblatt Jul 6th, 2007 10:06 AM

Now that's a place that really needs air conditioning.

Sorry to hear you're baking in Baker.
We're swimming (in rain) in Switzerland.

I live in North Texas, and it's usually triple digits here in July, but we haven't hit 100 all summer and it's been a couple of weeks since we've even hit 90. Not the first time I can remember a cool, wet summer, but a real rarity.

sandi_travelnut Jul 6th, 2007 10:15 AM

We're floating down the streets here in Dallas. A few months ago all area lakes were 10'-20' below normal, now all are at least 10' above and some as much as 30' above normal. Amazing change in such a short period of time.

Christina Jul 6th, 2007 10:48 AM

YOu probably shouldn't use that slang word, as it can be offensive to some people, like me -- especially as a heading for a post which is very unnecessary and you have to repeat it at the end. It's really rather vulgar to feel you have to talk that way.

SuzieCII Jul 6th, 2007 11:04 AM

I won't bitch, coz its oh-so offensive. (You've never been offensive, you are allowed.)
But by-gosh-by-golly...that's hot.
I'm sorry that you probably have to hole-up in air conditioning, like we in the east, sometimes hole-up because of snow!

nukesafe Jul 6th, 2007 11:12 AM

My most humble and abject apologies to Christina, and any other easily offended Fodorites, whom I may have shocked by my intemperate language!

Please substitute the word "gripe", or "complain" for the term I originally used. I do hope my use of slang on this august Forum will not end civilization as we know it.

:-(

Have been to Baker? Just pass through it on your way to Las Vegas.

Grassshopper Jul 6th, 2007 11:40 AM

The irony is I have found the complaining poster's comments to be offensive from time to time; rude, judgemental and pejorative. I guess offensive is in the eye of the beholder.

>A few months ago all area lakes were 10'-20' below normal, now all are at least 10' above...

Here in GA, we would appreciate some of that rain you folks in TX are keeping all to yourselves. :)

((I))

Thank you Grasshopper. I really felt like adding a snide aside to Christina that, "If the shoe fits--", but then we are all friends here, right?

:-)
