quilty to kenmare?
 

hello.....we are planning to travel from Quilty ( berry lodge, actually ), take the ferry over the Shannon, and drive down to Kenmare to stay for a couple of days....to visit Killarney Nat. Park and Beara Peninsula.

i am just wondering if the drive is a long one and where we should stop on the way...Tralee doesn't seem to have much to offer.....any suggestions? Thank you....

I plugged your cities in to this search engine and came up with about 3 hours -- I would add an hour for stops/pictures/lunch on the way.

thank you for the link....it will probably take even a little longer for us...first time drivers in ireland!!......any suggestions or recommendations for a place to stop for lunch? anything in Tralee of interest?

I'm not a big fan of Tralee. There is a theater in the city which does some interesting stuff, but the city itself is rather industrial. You might consider following the coast from Tarbert towards Ballybunnion. You could also drive down to Loophead before catching the ferry.

viamichelin puts the time at just over 3 hours so I think giving yourself more time is wise. There will be plenty of small towns to stop in along the way. Virtually any village makes for a nice stop at a local pub. Here is the link to the Shannon ferries timetable:

Have a great trip. We drove by Ballybunion because I wanted to see the golf course and club house and buy a few thingys from the pro shop. It was a nice side trip, but it may be a little early for lunch after a huge Irish breakfast a couple of hours earlier.

Stop at a small town pub for lunch on the way. It may be an experience. Talk with the bartender and have a few chuckles. I enjoyed that part of my trip. Have a guinness for me. ((b))

is anyone familiar with Duagh? my grandfather was born there....i have found it on the map, near abbeyfeale........of course we will be driving through !
