Quickest way from Florence to Bellagio?

I assume it is the train via Milan to Como S. Giovanni and then have a car pick me up at the train station.

A car from the Como train station is 80 Euros an a car from the Milan train station is 190 Euro.

Thanks!

You could do it that way, but I'd train from Florence to Milan Centrale to Varenna Esino. At Varenna, walk down the hill to the dock and ferry to Bellagio. The journey would take about the same amount of time overall, but the cost would be much cheaper. The views from the ferry, especially of Bellagio and Varenna, are beautiful.

We are doing exactly the same, Florence to Bellagio.

Thanks! I was a bit worried about trying to get luggage down the hill to the ferry and then on and off the ferry after already lugging it on and off two trains. I am not the most efficient packer!

Is the drive also a pretty drive from Como S. Giovanni to Bellagio? I assumed that it would be.

It's an easy walk down the hill with a rolling bag, only about 400 meters.

Parts of the drive from Como are very pretty, but at times you can't see the lake because the road is behind the lakeside homes or is passing through a town. If you search the route on maps.google.com and then drag the yellow man icon (streetview) to a place on the route, you can see what you'd see from a car. Using the arrows, you can move along the route.

I agree with krgystn that the walk from the Varenna train station to the dock is easy with a rolling bag, but I encourage you to pack light. There are always situations when you need to be able to pull/carry/lift your luggage all by yourself. IMO, getting luggage on and off trains is more difficult than the short walk in Varenna followed by a ride on the ferry.
