Quick Question About Picking Up Train Tickets in Paris

I know that American credit cards will not work at the kiosks in Paris when buying train tickets. I am wondering if they accept cash though.

Last I looked I believe some machines will accept cash. It depends which type of train you are taking and where you are going. You can always go to a ticket window where you can use either.

We were just there and at the metro they take coins (there is a 1 and 2 euro coin among others). There are many ticket windows also. It is very easy to use metro.

I presume the crux of the question is NOT having to use the ticket windows in Paris so as to avoid dealing with "fonctionnaires" with interesting attitudes.

No cash. Ticket window or SNCF boutique is the way you have to go.

Thank you. Yes, I was hoping to avoid the lines at SNCF by reserving/paying on line and picking up at a kiosk for a morning train.

Hi D,

You can pick up your tickets at any SNCF boutique.

See www.pagesjaunes.fr for locations.
