Quick help needed on Italy train!
I just bought two tickets on Trenitalia for my husband and me, but I forgot to include his name on the reservation.
So BOTH the e-tickets I received say "usable and personal by [MY NAME]" Since we have to show ID on the train I'm assuming that his name MUST be on his ticket. Is this true? And if so, how can I go about changing the reservation to his name? The web site isn't helpful in this regard. We're leaving Saturday, so I don't have much time. |
I wouldn't worry about it at all.

We just returned from Italy--used the trains several times. No one asked to see our identification on any of the trains. They were just interested in that fact that there were two tickets for two persons.

Thanks for your quick replies. It's only been four years since my last trip to Italy, but there was no such thing as e-tickets back then!

Hi J,
When you buy more than one ticket online, they require only that one of the ticket holders be the person who bought the tickets. Don't worry. Just in case, bring the same CC that you used for the ticket purchase. Someone might ask to see it. ((I)) |
I'm back from my trip now and I'd like to re-post as a service to others who are buying train tickets for Italy.
We actually did take some guff for having my name on both tickets, even though we pointed out that they had different confirmation codes so we obviously paid for both. As you may have heard, Italian train conductors tend to be fairly strict and ours gave us a bit of a hard time, but eventually punched the tickets without any penalty. |
