Yeah my French mother-in-law always put leftover bread in the freezer. I have a favorite bakery near our house near the beach near the big supermarket where I shop so I always buy 5 baguettes, cut them in half and freeze them. That way I don't have to take the car everyday or walk to the village to a bakery that isn't nearly as good.

I do usually put them in the oven for a few minutes in the morning to crisp them up, but definitely no complaints from my French hubby. They really hold up well in freezer. I do usually put them in the paper bag but maman just plunked hers straight in-I just don't like the crumbs in the freezer!

It's not at all uncommon here to freeze bread. A lot easier than making a trip for a fresh loaf every day. And a few minutes in the oven and it's just fine.
