Question wine tasting Chianti area
I am beginning to plan a trip to Italy next year.
I believe we will be staying 3 nights in Tuscany. Can anyone recommend a way to tour some of the vineyards for wine tastings if we do not want to drive? Tour companies or even a company we can rent a private car to drive? Thanks in advance! 8-) |
Where will you be based? If you're going to stay near Florence or Siena, I'd highly recommend Luca Garapa of Hillsandroads.com. We used him for several day trips to Siena and vineyards. We really enjoyed our time with him!

I was very pleased with the two wine tours I did with Angela http://www.greve-in-chianti.com/angela.htm . Chianti is one of her two specialities - the other is Montalcino/Montepulciano. She has a sommelier qualification is provides a very amusing and informative tour. When I went, we had lunch at a winery. It was great!

Hi cwojo99 ~ I second the Lusa recommendation. He was just wonderful.
Click here if you would like to read a detailed account of our day with him: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34758287 Enjoy! |
Sorry, that was meant to read "LuCa"
That will teach me to type with a pup on my lap. |
Wonderful! Thanks!
I am checking into the LuCa experience! |
A third recommendation for Luca!! He is fabulous. Book him early, he is getting quite popular.
Have a great trip. (Hi Weadles)!! |
Hi Flame123!
Glad to hear that Luca is getting popular! When we first met him, he was just starting out. He certainly deserves his success. We still talk about what a great time we had with him- esp. an astounding 3-hour lunch at La Bottega in Radda. Heavenly. |
