Question on Shipping from Copenhagen

We will be in Copenhagen for a week in August then traveling to Southern Africa for a month and ending up in an apartment rental in Paris in September. The clothes we would wear in Copenhagen and Paris would not be suitable for Southern Africa and we will have some strict luggage restrictions. We would like to bring clothing for Copenhagen and then ship it to our apartment owners in Paris to hold until we get there a month later. Can you please tell me the best way to do this and also the approximate cost? If it doesn't work out, we'll have to look like we are on safari in the streets of Paris! Thanks for your help.

Here's info on using Denmark post, not necessarily recommending but a place to start:

I also would get quotes from FedEx and DHL. For France deliveries, we have found FedEx the most professional and reliable, but that's obviously a subjective view.

One poster, I think Guenmai, has lived and worked in Denmark, if she sees this, I would value her opinion over my own.

When you see prices, you'll have major motivation to pack light or shop in Paris!

Instead of using the postal service, I would look into companies that specialise in collecting and delivering unaccompanied luggage or excess baggage, for example:

http://www.firstluggage.com

If you google excess baggage you will find several companies where you can compare prices.

I would also check whether paying for an extra suitcase to accompany you on your flights could be a cheaper alternative to shipping.

Luggage Free (www.luggagefree.com) is another company - we've used then several times. They will pick up your luggage and deliver it fro/to almost anywhere in the world. They even schedule pick-ups and deliveries at times that are convenient to you (always showing up within a 2 hour window).

FYI - any luggage delivery service IS NOT going to be inexpensive. To address Odin's comment - you'll usually find it less expensive to pay the airline an excess baggage fee then using one of the suggested Luggage Delivery Service companies.

Looks like it would cost about $200 to ship a small suitcase. We have about 5 flights in Africa so it still may be cheaper. Thanks for your answers. This will give me something to think about.

Bring clothing that you are thinking about discarding wear in Copenhagen then donate to the charity shop.
When you arrive in Paris treat yourself and buy some new clothes.

Nimbus, that's the best idea yet! I think I'll do it.

Yes, I've vacationed in Copenhagen ( entire summers) for extended periods over a couple decades (never worked there). Sometimes, I would send items home to the U.S., but by ship. I haven't done it for many years now, but remember it cost a lot.

As for clothing for Copenhagen/Paris versus South Africa, not that much clothing is needed for any of those places. I used to live in Copenhagen and then go off to Paris for a while, then off to either Morocco or Tunisia. I used to get all of the clothing in one suitcase regardless of the changes in climate or the difference in destinations.

Happy Travels!

I would suggest you to try Eurosender (www.eurosender.com), it is a platform where to book door to door shipping service, so they will collect your suitcase directly at home (or any address you give them). also the delivery address can be chosen freely.
It is really cheap, I paid about 54€ for sending my 30kg luggage from sweden to italy. Also, the delivery time was really quick.
