I disagree with elberko, we did the English language Park Guell tour this year and enjoyed it immensely. The woman leading the tour gave us better information than the audio-tour from what others said and allowed us to ask questions. We did have to wait a bit before she showed up but it was a minor point.

When we plan big city breaks we limit ourselves to two major attractions a day - 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Any more than that and we feel like we are running around and not enjoying our vacation. With teens you may be trying to see too much in one day.

Hi all... We arrive thursday at 9:00 am and leave Monday at 9:00 am. I am just going off of info that I received from many travelers on Rick Steves and other sites. The only thing that I have booked so far is Camp Nou on Sat @ 9:30 am. I also plan on Going to Montserrat on Sunday. So basically, other than that, I am still open to suggestions. We are traveling with 2 teens and we are not into art or spending a lot of time in museums. We have rented an apartment in the Eixample area.

Some of the things that we have decided we want to see are, SF, SPRM, Park Guell, Barri Gottic, la rambla, el born, Palau guell, Camp Nou and Montserrat. We also might try to add Casa Batllo but not positive about that. We are not a group that will stay for hours and hours at one place and we like to have an audio guide or person whenever possible so we know what we are seeing. I appreciate all of your recommendations!

Also, since we don't know how we will feel the first day due to jet lag, I have noted several different walking tours that are available that day and we also might take advantage of the HO/HO that day to get a lay of the land.

I like the HOHO but actually think it works better when you have a plan as to what you want to see on its route. Sure, you can just ride around the loop and enjoy the ride, but I don't think you get the most out of it. Because Barcelona is a fairly spreadout city so some things on its route are more convenient to get to that way and are not within walking distance of the center (eg, the Catalonian Art Museum or the Miro museum up on that hill, actually anything up there past plaza Espana. For the center, the HOHO bus is actually combersome (eg, around the Ramblas and El Born, etc). It's okay going up passeig de Gracia, also.


So if I were you, I'd spend the first slow day walking around Las Ramblas and El Born and Barri Gottic area.

There is perfectly good public transport in Barcelona, no reason to take the HOHO.
