Question for Zerlina

I have been wondering about our mutual acquaintance Jack, the retired American professor living in Rome. It has been nearly 2 years since I have spoken with him and I know he was quite ill at that time. Do you know if he is still with us?

Zerlina, I hope that you are out there. Getting to meet Jack so much enhanced our trip to Italy in 2008. DW and I became quite fond of him, but we lost track.

Bad news, I'm afraid. Jack died in New York around three weeks ago.

Thank you for your reply. We are so sad to hear that, but we were afraid that might have been the case. Our lives were made very much richer by having known him, even if it was to be briefly. The world has lost a very kind and fine gentleman - truly, one of a kind. Is there a charity that was important to him? If so, we would like to make a contribution in his honor.

I found this obituary online; it suggests donations to a school in Chicago.

Thank you so much for the link. It reflects our own impressions of Jack and we certainly will donate to the St. Malachy school. I apologize for being remiss in conveying condolences for your loss.
