Question for fluent Spanish speakers

I'm writing the classic essay on "What I did last summer" for my Spanish class and couldn't find a translation for GPS (global positioning system). Can anyone tell me what that is in Spanish?

Some posters on the lounge have said it's the same as in the US. Es verdad?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, that's true. We just pronounce the letters, as in english, only with spanish pronunciation, obviously.
Ge-Pe-Ese

Or you can also state that you used a "sistema de navegación", which is a navigation system. Hope this helps.

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema..._sat%C3%A9lite

That's the link to the Wikipedia article in Spanish.

I often find it helpful to go to mx.yahoo.com if I am looking for information in Spanish. There are also yahoo sites for Argentina, Colombia, Spain etc.

Um, the "g" is pronounced 'heh", so the letters in Sp. would be heh peh ese. Or you could circumlocute and call it "una maquina de navegacion" or as suggested above "sistema de navegacion. Ooorrr, you could call it "una computadora que usamos en el carro para buscar la mejor ruta de un sitio a otro sitio. "

In e-mails from Spain the kids write ja, ja, ja or ji, ji, ji, instead of ha, ha, ha
