Question Dingle/Kerry

Hello, My family and I are currently vacationing in Ireland and I thought that during the planning of the trip I had read about some sort of zip line for adventerous souls in the Dingle or Kerry areas. Does anyone know what I am thinking of?

Thanks so much

Sorry don't know what you mean by zip line. We drove the Ring of Kerry and it was boring and a waste of time. Wish we had gone to Dingle instead -
Checked my travel book for the Dingle Pennisula. You can go swimming with a dolphin, take a dolphin tour, diving, biking, golf, aquarium, archaeological tours, horseback riding, windsurfing, and there are beaches - Brandon Bay is scenic and good for walking and swimming.

What you read may have been a reference to the Turas extreme race which includes a zip-line across the Gap of Dunloe. See here: http://tinyurl.com/56ogn2.

The only thing I saw online was a site that had a zip line for Irish corporations that wanted to have their employees participate as part of "team building". The video showed people hooked to a zip line that dangled maybe 10 feet off the ground over grass and small streams - didn't look too adventerous or scenic. I think zip lining is probably best in tropical places like Costa Rica.

I think you can Zorb somewhere around Kilkenny or Tipperary. That would probably be a lot of fun for your family.

have to respectfully disagree w/ bratsandbeer on the RoK being a waste of time. There are beautiful sections (Killarney to Kenmare, Caherdaniel to Waterville, Ballinskelligs ring out to Valentia Island) and the inside of the ring is sublime. It is also access to one of the most amazing site in Ireland, Skellig Rocks. My wife prefers the RoK to Dingle. Dingle certainly packs more bang for the buck but the RoK has some amazing little spots including a couple of well preserved ring forts just off the main road. Yes, if you just drive the loop and don't get out, It isn't much of a thrill, but in my mind, Ireland isn't best enjoyed through the windshield (screen).

We did stop many places along the way on the Ring of Karry and did see the places you mentioned. Perhaps if we had driven the Ring of Kerry first and then driven to Newgrange and Northern Ireland where we walked across the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, walked the Giant's Causeway, had a few at Bushmills, Enniskellin and the west coast, plus all the castles and sights we saw in Ireland before we got to the Ring of Kerry,it would have made a more favorable impression on us. To be honest we did not go to Dingle so I can't compare the two. I only know the Ring of Kerry was a long ride and lots of buses to avoid on the route. Not bad for two old ladies to drive all over Ireland on the wrong side of the road. gt;)
