Question about trains from Lisbon
Hello, we are flying into Lisbon for 3 nights, my adult daughter and myself, then travelling on to Croatia but would like to stop somewhere along the way and journey by train ,I ran across Omio for train tickets and would love to hear from the community how these trains are and any ideas where to stop for 3 more nights .

Are you expecting to take trains from Portugal to Croatia with a single three night stop on the way??
That is one loooooooong haul and not very practical. The quickest train route would take more than 40 hours with several transfers, or equally long bus rides combined with trains |
It's a long and VERY EXPENSIVE train ride:
Day 1: Lisboa dp 8.09 - Barcelona ar 23.40 Day 2: Barcelona dp 9.28 - Paris ar 16.12, dp 19.12 by overnight train with sleeping cars Day 3: Salzburg ar 7.26, dp 10.12 - Zagreb ar 17.03 |

Also look at buses. The bus from Lisbon to Madrid takes around 7 hours, while the fastest train may take twice as long with multiple connections.
I like to use rome2rio.com to scope out optoins from point A to B. |
The bus from Lisboa to Madird is not really faster than the train, but it goes up to Barajas airport.
Bus: Lisboa Oriente dp 9.30 - Madrid Estacion Sur ar 18.45 - metro to Atocha railway station, dp by train 21.10 - Barcelona Sants ar 23.40. BTW: the best land and sea connection to Dubrovnik (and NOT to central Croatia) woul of course not go via Paris - Munich, but via Nice - Bari: Barcelona dp 9.28 - Narbonne 12.03 - Marseille 14.57 - Nice 17.50 - Ventimiglia 19.10 - Voghera ar 22.06, dp by overnight train (sleeping cars) 22.18 - Bari ar 8.30. Dp by ferry (4times weekly) 12.00 - Dubrovnik ar 20.00 |

You can book either with https://rede-expressos.pt/en/timetables
or with https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/home but usually not too long ahead. |
It seems they’ve decided to fly from Lisbon to Venice.
