Question about swimming on the Riviera in April

We're planning to be in Nice between 12 and 16 April. Any chance we'll be able to swim (in the Med, not a pool)?

I would doubt it very much.

Unless there's some massive heat wave in March, I wouldn't count on being able to swim in the Med in April. The water temp will only be about 18C. The warmest it usually gets in the hottest part of summer is around 26C, although sometimes it reaches 28C - but that's usually off the coast of Corsica.

yes depends what you call swimmable - my French inlaws regularly swim in 16-18 degree waters on the northwest French coast in the 'dead' of summer.

Depends on what you consider swimmable. the locals won;t be swimming. If you're from Maine it might be fine.

That's pretty much what I thought--thanks for confirming it!
