Question about reservethebest.com
 

I have read a few recommendations on this board for reservethebest.com. It seems like a great site but I am having a problem pulling up the menus and prices for the restaurants.

When I click on a restaurant from the general directory, the restaurant's page comes up fine. But when I click on "view prices" or "view menu" on a specific restaurant page, a blank box pops up with no information. Am I doing something wrong?

A number of people, including me, tried to use that site last spring without luck. Haven't heard if people have had any luck recently.

I sent them a message through their "contact" box and I'm waiting for a reply. I'll let you know what they say.

I see you plan to have dinner at Le Violon d'Ingres. Check the web site directly. Much better information re. menus/prices there.

PS: Just one other observation re. your Paris plans: Your night at the Palais Garnier won't be over till 10.10 PM.
Don't plan to be anywhere for dinner before 10.30/10.45 PM (for the Left Bank).
Some small neighbourhood bistrots (especially thinking of La Cigale which I know best) are likely not to take orders that late.

Ursula, I have already made a reservation directly with Le Violin d'Ingres. I was visiting reservethebest.com just so that I could preview menus and prices for a few of their restaurants. I always prefer making reservations directly, if I can,though.

Thanks for the info on La Cigale. I will try calling them and see what they say. If that doesn't work, do you have any other suggestions for a post-ballet bite, other than Le Grand Cafe of Cafe de la Paix?

You will find a pretty good selection of eating out after 10 PM (Apres 22 heures) in the weekly's Paris guide of the newspaper Le Figaro.
I find this web site extremely good and it replaces to some point Pariscope which isn't anymore online. However, it's all in French, because it focusses on Paris residents, rather than on tourists.

Their restaurant selection for a late dinner also includes places such as Cafe de la Paix, but many more in all Paris neighbourhoods.
You might find it useful.

Do you have a program for turning off "pop ups"? If so, you have to turn pop ups back on temporarily for many websites, as links within are often pop up windows.
