Question about postage rates in your country
I asked this same question a couple of years ago, but since the US Postal Service is going to raise rates again, and Americans will be grousing about it, I'd like to know how much your domestic postage for letters costs.
In the US, it's now 44 cents and will be 46 cents come January. That covers the whole USA, including Hawaii and Alaska.
Last time I asked, postage costed considerably more outside the US.

€0.44 for a letter up to 20grams in the Netherlands, double that for 20-50g. Post will be delivered the next day as a rule.
€0.77 for the same weight to Europe, and €0.95 for that weight to the rest of the world, and again double for a heavier letter.

Yes - postage is cheap in the US - but service is awful. Within Manhattan it can take 3 days for a letter to arrive. And our mailman appears to be minimally literate. We have only 48 apartments and every day there are at lest 4 or 5 pieces of mail in the wrong box - the finder leaves them on the shelf beneath for the owner to claim.
And that doesn't count the 5 or 6 pieces per week that belong to another building - often with no relation to our own. (In other words it's not e vs w street address - or just one digit off - it's often just totally different.) And even when you write "not at this address" it often takes 3 or 4 days before the mail is removed (and we hope sent to the correct address).

It's not the management - it's the salary. Although postal workers get a slightly increased salary in more expensive areas no way does it make up for the increase in the cost of living. In some rural areas I'm sure the salary isn't bad. Here it's low enough that many postal workers qualify for low-income public housing.

First class mail in Canada:
in Canada - .57 cents
to USA - 1.00
elsewhere - 1.70
I find the service first rate. I live in the country and if a package doesn't fit my mailbox the mailman drives up to the house and rings the
bell.
