Question about hotels

We are planning on going on vacation to Italy in July. Is the hotel Galileo in Rome nice? Is the hotel within walking distance to a metro stop to go to all the attractions? Is the Hotel Tre Archi in Venice nice? Does anyone know how far this hotel is from where the cruise ships dock?

You might want to read the reviews of the Galileo on Trip Advisor and also on venere.com

The hotel address is Via Palestro 33; the closest Metro stop is Castro Pretorio.

sweety, there are hundreds of hotels in Venice, thousands in Rome.

Whilst it's possible that some people here may have heard of, or even stayed in the ones you mention, it's more likely that the reviews on TA or booking.com will be more reliable.

google maps will help you with how far they are from the metro or the cruise dock.

both Venice and Rome will be quite warm, possibly hot, in July.

In July both cities are very likely to very hot and humid - so I would make sure the hotels have AC - some modest ones do not.

Have no clue about these hotels - but agree to review on tripadvisor - and also to map them to see what they are or are not near.

Try using google maps aerial view, walking option to map distance and route from hotel to various sights. Zoom way in and you can see the actual buildings. I find it so helpful.

Read about the various areas of Rome and decide which area sounds as if it meets your needs and is close to the sights that interest you most. On some of the booking sites you can select the area, price range, number of stars, etc. to narrow down your search. Trip advisor is very helpful as others have mentioned. Read the Fodor's message boards (especially trip reports) as well to find places others have enjoyed staying. When I read about a place that someone has stayed, I check Tripadvisor for reviews cost, etc, and have found some great places to stay. Don't forget the possibility of B&B's and apartments as well as hotels.

Good luck with your search!
