Question about hotel in La Rochelle?
Which hotel is nicest and best location? I'm thinking we want to be in town rather than on the water. I'm traveling with older parents, so location is key as well as nice room.
-Inter Hotel Saint Jean d'Acre Hotel www.hotel-la-rochelle.com (rooms w/ Terrace overlooking tower) - Hotel France Champlain- www.france-champlain.com (w/ rooms overlooking garden)(a/k/a France-Angleterre et Champlain) - Hotel les Brises- www.hotellesbrises.com (rooms w/ view of sea) - De la Monnaie- www.hotel-monnaie.com haven't heard back from them yet Residence de France- this is more expesnive than the others www.hotel-larochelle.com Le Yachtman- no website FYI, 33 rue Thiers doesn't have enough rooms for us. Thoughts? Annieladd |
Wish I could be more help but I stayed at 33 Thiers. I'll send this to a friend to see where he stayed.

I am so disappointed no one gave you their opinion about the best hotel. I am having the same problem deciding. Not one stands out as great. Seems that there are many chain type hotels (Ibis, Mercure etc). FRance-Champlain looks more formal. Hotel Les Brises is a 15 minute walk from town. I am concerned about noise from the port. Did you check out Ile de Re? There are some more choices but it's totally different on the quiet island.
