Question about GEORGES restaurant in POMPIDOU Centre (Paris)

Hi Gang,

I definitely want to check out the splendid view of Paris from GEORGES, and the cool decor. My question is --for those of you who have been there-- should I just go for drinks or should I go for dinner??

People say that the food is not memorable, but if you go for drinks, how is the seating? Is it possible to get drinks on the terrace, or will you be stuck at a crowded bar?

Is there a good time to go for drinks only? (I think I definitely would like to be there at night, so lunch is out.) But somehow I doubt you can reserve seating at night without having dinner...

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I went there for lunch and enjoyed it tremendously. The food was good, the decor interesting and the view fabulous. Also, now as expensive as dinner would be.

Thanks, CharlieG and Scarlett! I think we'll do dinner or drinks at Georges, because it looks like such a fun place in the evening.

Happy Travelling,
Betty

Hi Bett,

May I suggest that you do drinks at Georges at around sunset and then spend the money on a better dinner?

Ira,

I love your sense of practicality. I dug the lightbulb too!

We had dinner there about 1 1/2 yrs. ago(b/4 the $ was in the shape it is now) and I thought it was fine but the portions were small. We dined outside & the view was beautiful.

I think this place has a more spectacular view of the city. Have a drink orlunch and the best part as orther friends of mine say, You don't see the tour(ugly)

Thanks, ec & cigalechanta! Cigale: The place you suggested sounds interesting, but the view of Paris from the 56th floor is too far up. (I'll feel almost like I'm in a NYC skyscraper rather than in Paris.)

That's why I decided on GEORGES. It's only on the 6th floor, so you get the nice 360-degree view of the city, but without that "skyscraper effect."

I'm from NYC so I've had my fill of skyscrapers...

Best wishes to you all,
Betty
