QUESTION ABOUT CIGARETTES?
 

Before you say it, we know smoking is bad for us! We are both smokers and wonder if we can buy American made cigarettes in Europe?
When we went to Mexico last year the cigarettes they sell there were American brands but not made in America and they were not the same! I read we can only take 400 cigarettes or two cartons each with us and I figure we will need more since we smoke 1 pack each per day and we will be there for 18 days, Can we get American made brand there?

I have often brought 4-6 cartons with me.

Just go through the "Nothing to Declare" door at the airport.

The worst thing that will happen is that you will apologize for not knowing the rules and have to pay the duty.

Bring your own. As you say, they are the same brands but the tobacco is different. You can buy the American -made ones at duty free at the airport when you leave to save money. No one will check your bags when you arrive in Europe.

PS, It is very useful to have a compass with you in the car.

Make sure that the car doesn't have its own magnetic field.

On our drive through France in a Peugeot 307, I had the compass hanging from the rearview mirror.

For 2 days I didn't realize that it always pointed in the same direction.

I smoke Marlboro's and found them all over France, at any rate. But then again, I enjoy trying European brands.
Not that this applies to you, but if you enjoy "liquor", it is rather cost effective to take your own (vodka, rye, bourbon (which I understand European's enjoy as a gift), etc.)
aaaah, I know there are people litterly ill at this thought, but to sit at an outdoor bistro, a cool glass of wine, some of those little olives...
totally civilized.

Man, we can't wait until we have the chance to sit outside at a bistro in the sunshine and have wine and olives!

I often buy a bottle of gin at duty free so I can enjoy a G&T in my room as I'm getting ready for the evening.
