Question about cell phones in Czech Republic

Hello,
We will be in Czech Republic in August and will also rent a car for part of our trip. I think it would be wise if we have a cell phone in case the car breaks down or if we are running late & need to notify our hotels.

Does anyone know how to go about buying a short-term phone in Prague?
Thanks.
Karen

There are lots of shops in Prague selling second hand phones, so you can pick up a basic model for a few dollars. You can also get a new sim card very cheaply - often you get as much credit as the card costs. Most phones in the Czech Republic are 'unlocked' these days so you won't have a problem with the card.
Bon voyage

I brought my Cell phone from the US. I got the unlock code from T-Mobile before I left and then purchased a Czeck Sim card and minutes from Vodaphone when we got to Prague. That worked fine. You can buy as many minutes as you want/need.

Thanks, Galeforce. My daughter is bringing her cell phone so we will purchase a Czech sim card.
