it took me ages to find it again, lin, but finally:

http://www.534-valencia.com/servicio...das-y-bebidas/

it looks like a bargain!

thanks for the info about Ca Sento, I'll cross them off the list.

Trendcash looks good and very reasonable. [weekday menus for €14, and €18 on Saturdays, but I can't work out if that applies in the evening too! I think that we'll be coming home well fed!

i thought you are talking about ca'sento with the 27 euro menu, not 534. trencadish' menu is at lunch time. M-Fri 3 first pates and one main dish and dessert and Saturdays more expensive but you get one more first pate. Drinks and coffee separate. This will probably bring this up another 10E/person minimum.. JFYI.

very difficult to find anything except a tasting menu at night that is fixed price, HOWEVER.. I don't go out much at night so that may have changed. Always check to see if drinks.. or one drink are included.. not for any particular reason but so you can correctly calculate the price or not be surprised at end. Many places now do NOT include the drink.. and many still do.. just go where your heart leads you. one and beer are not too much more than a coke, so don´t fret too much about it. Many places have the option "poster o café".. "dessert OR coffee" in their menus, too.

lol, it wouldn't matter how much cheaper coke was than beer or wine, I still wouldn't drink it!

Here's an article from the New York Times about Valencia's vibrant music scene:

Nice article. We are signed up for Berklee notifications. They have several free concerts a week. Some are outdoors at Science center pools, others inside the Opera House in one of its many recital rooms. It is a privilege to have so much talent here along with well known guest teachers.

I realize years have gone by since you posted this trip report, but it remains SO helpful, interesting... enthralling! DH and I are headed to Valencia for the first time (finally - on our 6th+ trip to Spain - our favorite country, where we also hope to live part time someday) and this is tremendously helpful. Thank you!!

The first restaurant we visited on this now-long-ago trip to Valencia was CASA JOMI. I was reading about Valencia, musing about a return visit next March, when I came across this notice in the local press about the death of the owner; I am posting original Spanish article, and the Google English translation. (If the English does not post, you can find it by clicking on one of the icons at the top of the page.

I thought the writing was so moving; I doubt if we would even see an obituary notice like this one in the US, or perhaps anywhere else, for that matter:
