Puy de Dôme

Please can anyone give me any up to date information about visiting this?

I found this web site which as I understand it means we can't drive up the road but there is a shuttle bus.

Where exactly is Chemin des Muletiers where the navette service drops you off? Is this on the top?

There seems to be little information on the web about Puy de Dôme and the section in Michelin is confusing. Any help and advice appreciated.

no, it's a footpath that leads from a parking lot to the top, takes about 45 min.

I think there is a lot of information on the web about it if you know how to use google very well. eg

Thank you for your reply. I also emailed Clermont-Ferrand who inform me there is now a cog railway to the top.

One of the reasons for this is that it will now be accessible in the winter.

Has anyone been on the railway? How far is it to walk from the top station to the top of Puy de Dôme?
