Purchase train tickets via on-line - Help, Please!
 

Does anyone know of the site I can reserve and purchase train tickets in Spain? The Renfe train site is not user friendly.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not online at Spanish prices but if you're in the US RailEurope's prices may (or may not) be about the same so check RENFE - then call RailEurope or their many agents for their price (800-441-2387). I don't believe any of the official rail sites for each country sells or even gives prices for tickets for use in other countries. Maybe someone in this forum will advise you on how to navigate the renfe site if you tell exactly what the snafu is.

I've bought tickets on Renfe and I live in the US. I think there is a feature that ou can't buy more than one ticket if it's your first time -- then after you show up to pick up the first ticket, you can buy more on your account. Something like that, as I recall -- I only bought one AVE (Seville to Madrid) for my trip, so that wasn't a problem for me. I bought other local, short runs on-site as I wasn't worried about them, but had to have a particular run for my AVE train and it was a holiday period.

I didn't have any trouble with the Renfe site myself, but I can read Spanish fairly well, that's true.

If you want to make a reservation for different trains you can do it on an international phone number they have. Then, you just collect and pay for them at the first station of your trip.
It works on most trains and it's useful if you travel in August and specially in weekends. Only Cercanias (short distance ) trains don't take reservations but it doesn't mind, there's plenty of room in those.

If it's a night train in Spain then, as per examples i gave in a discussion about a week ago, these are, surprisingly considerably cheaper thru RailEurope than if bought in Spain! Not so on day trains but about the same.

You say "the RENFE site is not user friendly". I have always found it to be absolutely superb, often offering cheap deals that may be only a quarter of the price of that charged by US agents. Try again, I'd say! Is this a language problem, perhaps? (Tho', in truth, my Spanish is minimal, but I still manage the RENFE site!).

Well my native language is English. And I don't read or understand Spanish. The Renke site I've searched is in English, but there's no option to purchase tickets.
I want to purchase tickets from Madrid to Granada. I found the times I want to travel, but I can't figure out how to purchase ticets on line.
Any and all help much appreciated!!

I'll be traveling from Madrid to Granada on Sept. 15...arriving in Granada at 14:10. And returning on the 16th...arriving in Madrid at 14:30.

The main Schedule "look-er up -er" doesn't let you buy tickets... Try this link to buy tickets, but for some reason only works from 07:00 to 23:00 Spanish time: https://w1.renfe.es/vbi/indexu.html , or you can use an external site to buy tickets (like via the SNCF at www.voyages-sncf.com), but prices could be higher. I once did this for Belgian trains and Italian trains.
