Purchase Tickets In Advance for Eiffel Tower??

We will be visiting Paris for 5 days starting Feb 17. I plan to go to Eiffel Tower on either Feb 18th (Sat) or 19th (Sun).
My cousin keeps telling me to buy tickets in advance to avoid the lineup. I am hesitating as I don't want to prepay for things (there are 4 of us). I think we will want to go up to 3rd level, is it worthwhile to buy the tickets in advance? Or it doesn't matter since Feb is kinda low season?

Agree on the off season comment, I might also go first thing in the morning. There may still be a line to get up, versus line for tickets + line for getting up.

I went with DW, and a niece and nephew in March of last year. No prepaid tickets - went late in morning - 10:15 a.m. - with a long line that stretched around the base. We were on the top of the tower right at 11:00, which included a stop at the second level and switching elevators to the third. 45 minutes to get to the top wasn't all that bad.

I'd second Michel's comment, go first thing in the morning and you won't have much of a wait, if any.
