Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel- feedback?

Hi,

I've already gotten great advice regarding hotel choice in Rome and after reading several negative reviews about the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, I decided I can also use some help about hotel choice in Paris.

I'll be spending 5 nights at the end of August. The major attraction about the Pullman was the amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. However there has been several negative reviews recently which made me second guess myself- the view alone can't be the only factor. If anyone has stayed there some feedback would be appreciated.

I'm looking for somewhere close to major attractions and great restaurants etc. A gorgeous view would also be great. Leave it up to my fiancé and Disney Paris would be his dream US400-500 a night is my budget.

Thanks

Not quite sure where you are getting these 'several negative reviews' . . . Every hotel gets some flak.

On TA for example 565 Excellent/Very Good vs. 74 Poor/Terrible. And on Booking.com it is even better (and I rely on Booking.com reviews more since only people who have actually stayed there can review a hotel). An 8.6 out 0f 10 -- that is very good on Booking.com

I personally don't love the 7th, but if I were to stay in that area I wouldn't have any problem w/ the Pullman.

OK...so I am with JanisJ on the 7th. For me, it's hard to get to other areas easily and I don't love the area....much prefer the 6th. More shops and closer to more of the sites we like to visit....just a personal preference. I will admit, I don't love the ET. After 6 trips I have never gone to the top and I do enjoy seeing at from afar, but don't' need to see it from my room. That said, you will be in Paris so it's all good.

Somewhere on this forum there is a list of left bank hotels...you could take a look there for some info.

Hi again denisea, thanks for your response. Off to do some research on left bank area. So will you say the 6th is your preferred district? There are so many choices!! Going to look at some old threads- I'm sure there must be others who were as clueless as I am.

I just want to be close enough to sights, good food etc. and since it's my first time in Paris, I wouldn't complain if I see the Eiffel Tower from my window- how very touristy of me, but it looks oh-so-beautiful.

>>Off to do some research on left bank area. <<

The Pullman is also on the Left Bank. But for me the 5th, 4th (right bank but very central) or the 6th are preferable to most parts of the 7th.

People love to hate the 7th. It is NOT hard to get to places. It is served by 4 bus lines, and the metro. There is a reason people say the center of Paris is arr. 1-8 (I think 7 is in that sequence. LOL)
It is all personal, and if you want the view of the Eiffel Tower, then it's gonna be the 7th (at least for more than the tip).
No reason to second guess.

I don't hate the 7th, just don't love it. The bus lines are easy but we didn't think the Metro access was as good...just my opinion. I do love the 6th but we also enjoyed the 5th. We stayed in the 9th a few years ago...nice but not our favorite area.

No matter what you choose, it's Paris and I feel sure you will love it.
