Pubs and casual restaurants in London
I am staying with my parents at the Montague on the Garden Hotel in London. I was wondering if their are pubs w/food nearby. It seems like it is on a very quiet street.My mother uses a walker - so I mean really close. Thanks for any input.

"<i>My mother uses a walker - so I mean really close.</i>" Just something else to think about - you really can go to just about any pub/restaurant you want anywhere in the city - no need to limit yourselves to places "really" close to your hotel.
Cabs in London are very roomy, have plenty of space for a walker, and can drop you at the front door of probably 98% of pubs/restaurants. Easier even than walking down the block from your hotel to a nearby pub . . . . |
The" All in London" website has a list of tube stops, and surrounding shops, restaurants, and sights.

If you're using the fanxcy a pint site your nearest tube is Russell Square.
There are some excellent pubs aropund there - and for eating I would recommend the Norfolk. It's gastro-pub and not too poncy (but still a bit poncy). There is also the Cornwallis which I haven't been in since it's been done up (it used to be a right dive) but is now apparently really nice and god for food. When I worked there (some time ago) I used to like the Lord John Russell and the Friend at Hand for a post work pint - both are traditional pubs - nothing fancy but good. BTW one of the pubs in the area is named after my family! |
BTW under no circumstance whatsoever, not even to win a large bet, go into the "London Pub".
