Public Transportation on Hvar Island
I have a friend whose mother lives in Sucuraj, Hvar.
How do i get to Sucuraj? If the normal ferry from Split stops off at either Stari Grad or Hvar town, are there public buses that link to Sucuraj? Or should I take a ferry from the mainland to Sucuraj - then will there be buses to get one to Hvar town? Thanks for any help you can give me! |
There is a bus station, a busy bus station, in Hvar Town, but I can't tell you where or when the buses go. But someone here will.

According to my old Rough Guide, there is 1 bus on Mon. and 1 bus on Fri. from Hvar Town to Sucuraj; it takes 1'10". I don't know how current that information is, and it doesn't list the return info. You might contact the Hvar Town tourist information office; be sure to say when you will be there, as many transportation schedules in the area differ with the season. Another option would be to rent a car.
Hope that herlps! |

Thanks for your help!
(Or is that "herlps"? :) ) Maybe the rental car is the way to go, although it looks like there are only two gas stations on the entire island. I'm just having a case of nerves, which is not typical for me, but since i missed his mother last year, I don't want to appear like a complete doofus the second time around and miss her again! |
I looked up that town on Google, and the website says the best way to reach Sucuraj is by ferry from the Makarska coast. If you look at a map, Sucauraj is way on he other end of the island from Hvar town. Just a short ferry ride from the mainland coast at Drvenik, however.

If you want to go first to Sucuraj, you should get the boat from Drvenik. This is a very frequent service with a short crossing. The bus service is not yet finalised for the season.
