Public transport to Sol Metro area from Madrid airport

Hi,
I have heard that the public transport from the airport can be good (better if not during rush hour). The other forums I read were not terribly clear. If I am going to Sol metro, do I want to take the metro and change trains OR do I want to take a bus OR a metro to a bus.
I read that I want to go to Barajas to Nuevos Ministeros and then Cercaris to Sol. Which part of that is train or bus? And is Barajas the starting point at the airport?
We will have bags, but should be manageable.
Thanks in advance!

You can take the metro from the airport to Sol, which is now called Vodafone Sol (great marketing, like naming a sports stadium), you change metro lines at Nuevos Ministerios, or you can take the airport bus and get off at Atocha station and walk to Sol. It's quicker and easier.

I stopped taking taxis and the metro when the yellow airport bus began to run-much more convenient.Be aware it's quite a hike to the metro station at the airport then another walk to make the connection at Nuevos Ministerios plus stairs and escalators.
The bus for 5 euros is a dream and stops outside each terminal and then at Cibeles and finishes at Atocha.
I don' know where you are staying in Madrid but you could walk ,take the local bus for a couple of stops or a short taxi ride down to either of the airport bus stops.

Hi all, we grabbed the yellow aero puerto bus right outside baggage claim for five euro each and took it to ciebles. From there it was no more than 15 minute leisurely walk down a main street to the Sol metro stop. Our hotel was two minutes down one of the little streets- Hotel Francisco I. It was a great hotel, very reasonably priced and so convenient. We were only in Madrid a day and half, so did the hop on hop off bus- and there was a stop right by metro sol, as well as many others very close by. We took the airport bus back- pick it upon the other side of the ciebles circle. It seemed to run every fifteen minutes. Couldn't have been thirty minutes to the airport, but I wasn't really paying attention. We arrived way earlier than expected. I would highly recommend the yellow bus. More to come on our hotel and the few sights we did get to see when we return from the rest of the trip. Thanks to everyone for your help!
