Public transport strikes in April in the Nettherlands

On Thursday April 7 there will be no trams, buses or metro running in Amsterdam between 10 am and 2 pm. There may be problems from 9 am and until 3pm.

12 April the same thing in Rotterdam, and 20th April in Den Haag.

You can always then I guess use the boats that circulate like buses along the canals?

Thank you, hetismij. We arrive in Amsterdam on the 14th and leave on the 21st--should we anticipate any additional issues with public transportation?

Fourfor - you will be fine, it is only on the days stated, and for the times stated. There is a problem with the new contracts for public transport in those cities which is why they are having these disruptions.

Ferries are running normally and yes if you want to you could use something like the museum boat to get around, but it would probably be as quick to walk to most places

Ugh! I gotta get to the airport on 4/12 ... which means I gotta get to the train station in Rotterdam. I guess I have 11 days to figure out how to call a taxi, since there are no stands near my home

What time Nina? If they do the same times as in Amsterdam, and I assume they will, maybe you should aim to get an earlier train if possible. Look at http://en.detelefoongids.nl/?locale=...ewSession=true for a taxi company near you.

Good luck, and meanwhile enjoy your mother's visit

Flight is at 13:45 to Bucharest, so I'd like to get to the Schipol by 11:30. I guess I could just set out very early -- maybe leave the house / take the tram at 8:00am before the strike starts? That would put me at Schipol at 9:30 or 10:00 at the latest for a 13:45 flight

Thanks for your help. My mother arrives at 7:00 tomorrow morning. We're going to spend Sat/Sun in Amsterdam, Monday here in Rotterdam, then head to Paris on Tuesday for a week. I'm excited. Haven't seen her since December.

Sounds like a good plan Nina. you could check the RET site a couple of days before you fly for more news. they don't have info up on their site yet.
www.RET.nl

Sounds like an exciting time for you!
