Public Transport in Puglia and Basilicata

Hi , am planning a trip to Puglia and Basilicata later this year and will have to use public transport , since I don't drive . This is proving to be a challenge since many of the bus websites seem to be only in Italian

Would really help if someone can direct me to the following :
a) Bus schedule from Martina Franca or Taranto to Matera
b) Bus schedule from Matera to Potenza on a Sunday ( understand that many trains / buses do not run on a sunday.

Thanks a lot .

Thanks for these links. I could not find anything from Taranto to Matera ... would you know that ? Thanks

I could not find that with a short search. I didi find a route from Taranto to Senise. From Senise you could surely get to Matera. Or you could perhaps get down at Policoro or Metaponto Scalo and get a bus to Matera from there. There may be a simpler solution which I have not yet found, but for the moment, see if you can find non-direct routes through one of those 3 towns.

Another idea would be to contact your proposed hotel in Matera or Taranto and ask them.

What is the general plan of the trip..will you be coming from Bari? (There are direct buses from Bari to Taranto and Bari to Matera)

I am also planning a trip there for mid-year and having problems. I speak Italian and have no trouble reading the various sites but it's hard to see how to get from town to town as there are so many private companies...

I am sure your hotel could advise if there is a direct link from Taranto to Matera but if it comes to the worst the Ferrovie del Sud Est runs from Taranto to Bari and from Bari you can get the Ferrovie Appulo Lucane to Matera.

And Marino Bus also runs to Matera and Taranto but they aren't linked - you have to go to Cerignola.

Hope this helps.
