Provence -where to eat? and what to do?
 

I will soon be visiting southern France with my children( ages 18,16 and 11). We will be staying in Arles, Avignon and Carcassonne. On day trips we will visit Orange, Vaison la Romaine,Isle Sur la Sorgue,Gordes, Roussillon, St Remy and Les Baux.I am seeking recommendations for restaurants, sights and any must dos in these areas.

We loved this place so much that we're going to stay there again this sumer (something we just never do!), It's a Best Western hotel- La Magnaneraie. We ate no where else. It is to die for. Check them out on bestwestern.com. <BR> <BR>Name: La Magnaneriae <BR>Address: 37 Rue Camp de Bataille, Villeneuve Lex Avignon (I thought it was much nicer to stay outside of Avignon's crowds- it's just a few miles away, and QUIET! <BR>call 04 90 25 11 11, or email for a reservation (probably not necessary, but always a good idea): [email protected]. We stayed in room 30- nice view of the garden and the fountains. Nice hotel cat- just walked into our room like she owned it. <BR> <BR>Very nice wine tasting just north- Chateauneuf-du-Pape- the easiest place in France to taste (next to Alsace) that we have encountered. Did all of the local sites, enjoyed all equally. But the food! Dinner, outside on the patio, excellent food- seared tuna, fois gras- 3 nights of the best food we'd had in eons- comparable to the tops in San Francisco. Have a great time! <BR>
