Provence to Brittany - where in between with kids
we're a family of 4 (2 boys 10 & 7). we'll be in france over June/July, and have already booked part of the holiday (Paris, Provence, Brittany). But i'm not sure where we should go between Provence and Brittany. We have 12 days between leaving Provence and arriving in Brittany - and so far all our bookings have been self-catering houses for a week at a time (that seems to be standard around that time, so 12 days seems difficult).
Thoughts so far have included Dordogne river or Lot-et-Garonne and maybe Charente-Maritime. Appreciate any suggestions as to towns/locations between these 2 areas that would suit kids. thanks, |
Dordogne would be my choice, by far. Lots of things for kids - castles, caves, medieval warefare demonstratins, etc. There is a current thread about Burgundy Vs the Dordogne. Read it.

I agree with Stu Dudley. Include a stop in the Loire valley to see some of the chateaux. For a serious lesson in history, Oradour-sur-Glane is worth a stop.

thanks. any thoughts on which towns are best to base yourself in around Dordogne or Loire?

Dordogne - Sarlat. If you want to be directly on the River, stay in Beynac or Roque Gageac.
