After pouring over StuDudleys trip report, and reading through the Michelin Green Guide...
You are already off to a great start! I have a very strong feeling that you and your friends are going to have a great time. Can't wait to read your trip report. |
BTW, Michael, your picture of Monpazier is remarkably similar to my own:

StCirq, It is called Chateau de Viresco. I booked it through SimplyChateau, here's a link: http://www.simplychateau.com/chateau...n/12-dordogne/
|
Michael, Your pictures are tremendous. Thank you for the link.
|
mr_go,
yours must have been taken with a wider angle and later in the season--more flowers on the bushes. |
If I promise to behave, can I come too? Please, please?
|
Michael: Yes, and the van driver was kind enough to get out of my way.
sonodust: Nice digs. Can I be your friend? |
I hope the trip turns out to be as enjoyable as the planning. We will certainly have plenty to do.
I imagine that most days will be spent going out to see the sites, and most evenings will wind down with several hours drinking wine and recounting the days adventures... |
I know you will have a great time! We went to the Dordogne last September with friends. It was a truly amazing trip. I also enjoy the trip planning and I worried that the trip could never match my expectations. It far surpassed them. We are planning a trip back to the very same places In 2013.
I did write a trip report...my best advice is to always have plenty of one and two euro coins on hand for the horadateurs! I never seemed to have coins. I would go back tomorrow if I could... |
Thank you Kansas. I didn't know the term horadateurs, so I had to google it. Now I see why I would need the coins. Did you have any trouble with credit cards there? I have read that many US cards do not work to purchase rail tickets etc, since they do not have the chip that is used in euopean credit cards.
Any other ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to read your trip report now!! |
Keep in mind that parking is usually free between noon and 2 p.m. If you pay for three hours are 11 a.m., the time will expire at 4 p.m. The same principle applies to overnight parking.
|
Boy does that place look nice. I think I'll have to leave my hovel and drive over for dinner!
|
Kansas - i just finished reading your trip report and viewing the pictures. Thank you for posting!! Now I have even more things to add to my "must see" list.
StCirq- you are certainly welcome to come over for dinner. Fortunately our group has a number of very good cooks. One of the best meals I've ever had was on vacation in Italy at our villa. We named the dish, "Driveway Rosemary Chicken" because the main flavoring came from the herb that grew so abundatly around the parking area. Of course it was one of those dinners that followed a wonderful market day, and was accompanied by a good deal of wine. |
