Provence itinerary

My husband and I will spend 3 nights in Paris and then go to Provence for 7 nights. Then we will return to Paris for 1 more night before flying home.

I am wondering if it would be better just to spend the whole time in Provence instead of trying to fit in Saint Paul de vence/.Mougins/ Fayence. Have been to Nice many times so not interested in staying there.

So, what is your opinion of these 2 itineraries?

Plan A:
4 nights Saint Remy
3 nights Gordes (or around there) (I got this idea from Stu!)

Plan B:
3 nights Saint Remy
2 nights Gordes
2 nights Saint Paul de Vence/or Mougins/ or Fayence

If we do Plan A we can take the TGV to Avignon, rent a car and then return the same way.

If we do Plan B, could we still return from Avignon or would it be better to go to Nice?
Maybe we should start with Saint Paul and then end in Avignon area. But then we have to pick up a car in one place and drop it off in another.

Thanks for your help. I just can't make up my mind and i would appreciate advice from people who have done a trip like this.

Plan A
The less time spent packing moving and unpacking is better.

So much to see around St Remy and Gordes its much nicer having a base.

Happy travels

Plan A for sure.

Just to point out that if you do go with Plan B, you can drop off your car in Nice (almost certainly without a drop-off charge, though you should certainly verify this).

p.s.: a Plan C, which lots of our guest have done is to spend the last day driving from the Luberon via the Gorge du Verdon down to the Cote d'Azur. It's a spectacular drive, though an all-day affair for sure. Won't give you any time to visit the coast, but neither would the 2 days in Plan B. And you could spend a very pleasant evening in St. Paul, for example, before flying out the next day.

I've decided to go with Plan A after spending all day reading Stu's description of all the things to see in this area. Staying in 2 places will be so much more relaxing. Now for another question. Should I spend 3 nights in Gordes or Bonnieux? If we used our hotel/b& b as a base would one city be better for dining options? I checked out Mas de Romarins in Gordes and le Clos de Buis in Bonnieux. It would be nice to be able to either walk or drive very little to a restaurant once we get back after an all day drive.
