provence itinerary

My husband and I will visit Provence for a week and a half starting the end of September. We are renting a cottage just outside of St. Remy for a week (Saturday to Saturday) and then will spend two days in the Luberon (I'm thinking Roussillon, Apt or St Saturnin les Apt) and two days in Vaison (for wine tasting in the area). We'll be doing day trips out of St. Remy, but I'm not sure what to do on Monday since some things are closed ... I'm thinking perhaps Arles and Les Baux. Here's my itinerary starting in Isle sur la Sorge (and other nearby villages) on Sunday; Arles and Les Baux on Monday; Nimes, Uzes and Pont du Gard on Tuesday; Orange and Chateauneuf du Pape on Wednesday; Avignon on Thursday; and Aix on Friday. Any comments or suggestions?

Shops in Arles will be closed on Monday morning. Same with St Remy. Some will open in the aftertnon (around 2:30 or so). You could visit Les Baux in the AM, the castle in Tarascon after that, and then Arles in the afternoon.

If you swap Avignon & Aix - you'll catch the very nice Thursday market in Aix.

Forcalquier has the only Monday market in the area, and it's a big one.

Bedoin has an excellent Monday morning market too.
