Provence Itinerary
 

My wife and I are spending 9 nights in Provence and the Côte d'Azur in late September and trying to figure out where to spend 1 additional night. We flying into Nice and are staying for 4 nights. We are then renting a car and spending 4 nights at Domaine de Fontenille near Lauris. From here, we are going to explore the Luberon, Les Baux, and maybe the Pont du Gard. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a 5th night at Domaine and are looking for another place to stay. We have an evening flight from Marseilles, and are looking at potentially 1 night in Cassis. It doesn't really get us any closer to the airport, so am wondering if there are any other places one might suggest staying?

Aix-en-Provence is also close to Marseilles Airport - way different from Cassis of course - one for relaxing and the other a really neat city.

I loved Aix-en-Provence, and it is about 30 minutes from the Marseille airport.

Could even return the car in Aix and save a day rental and hop the bus and 30 minutes be right into the airport terminals car free.

For ease of getting to the airport AND a very nice place to stay, I recommend the Mas d'Entremont. It's on a hill near but outside the traffic of Aix and is an easy run to the airport on the freeway.

How about a night in Lourmarin? It is a lovely town and there are some nice villages nearby. Easy drive to the airport.

Pretty close to Lauris, so I think I will try somewhere else. The consensus here seems to be Aix rather than Cassis? I will checkout properties. I appreciate all the thoughts!

Aix is great if you have a whole day there but to just stay night before airport I'd chose some smaller coastal town. Aix is great but if don't care about seeing it in a leisurely day stay somewhere else.
