Provence in October

Though we have visted Provence many times we have never been there in October.

We plan to stay in St. Remy, will have a car and are curious about events, craft shows, etc. taking place in October.

Given the hot summers of recent years I presume October will be pleasant weather-wise.

Please share your personal experiences, no websites.

Thanks.

Anthony,

For the past five years, we have spent time in Provence in the second week in October and returned at the beginning of November after visiting Italy...we will do so again this year and hope for the beautiful weather we have always had....one certainly cannot predict, but it has been pleasant and balmy right up to November...still nice, but we encounter Mistral in November often and it may get a bit cooler. If it stays the same, you will love it, as there are many fewer people....

I've been in Provence the past two or three Octobers - my favorite time of year to be there. It was warm - shirtsleeve warm - in the afternoons, with a nice nip at night.

And it goes without saying that each time there was the mistral - that wind sees me coming and just whips up a frenzy.

The crowds really do thin out after the end of September.

Traviata, St. Cirq

Thanks for your response. How about events like craft shows, etc. We love the outdoor market in St. Remy but will have a car and willing to travel about.

Best wishes.

Anthony,

Sorry..I have not ever attended any craft fairs there..only local markets... perhaps your hotel could suggest regional fairs and shows...

Powell, if you suffer allergy problems make certain that you bring some Benadryl and Sudafed with you..
The Mistral can be brutal to people that have these symptoms..
Speaking for myself I always get sinus infection when the Mistral blows dust, dirt and others..
