Provence I'lsle sur la Sorgue Restaurants& Cafes in October
We've finally decided that we'll base ourselves in I'Isle sur la Sorgue instead of St Remy for our 6 night stay in Provence mid October 2010.
St Remy seems to be the favourite with lots of Fodorites but we loved the look of I'Isle sur la Sorgue, the canals and walking paths, markets etc
I understand I'Isle sur la Sorgue is quiet and doesn't have as many restaurants as St Remy. However, we don't need alot of restaurants for our stay...one or 2 cafes for breakfast and coffee...one or 2, sitting out (hopefully) for a light lunch and vino and maybe the same type of place for dinner.
I hope we're being realistic in our expectations but would appreciate any comments or suggestions ....or recommendations ! Merci Maggey !

One of my favorite restaurants is there in Isle, across from the train station. Le Jardin du Quai. A lovely garden to sit in warm weather. The chef was formerly at the Hotel Mirande in Avignon before taking over this old mansion.

Isle sur la Sorgue doesn't have very many good restaurants, and it's a small town anyway (meaning you can easily look around). You don't need to plan for a cup of coffee in a cafe, just find the closest one to where you are staying. I think one of the (very) few good restaurants there is La Prevote. It's kind of down this side street near the church

Leyris Patisserie on Rue Carnot is excellent. The owners are a French/American couple ( he is from Provence and his wife is from NY) and in addition to selling great treats they are very helpful to tourists.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!
I think Isle sur la Sorgue will work out just fine for us!
We enjoy our food and wine though we don't always need anything too fancy! Again, thank you all for your replies!
Best regards Maggey

If I were to choose between St Remy and L'Isle for restaurants the latter has a far better choice. I live close to both and have yet to find a good value restaurant in St Remy and believe me I have tried.
