Provence Hotel Decision
 

I am spending 4 nights in Provence in early May. I have decided on St-Remy and have narrowed my hotel selection down to either Chateau des Alpilles or Domaine de Valmouriane. Any suggestion or opinions would be appreciated. Also, am I better off spending all 4 nights at one of these 2 places or spending 2 nights in St-Remy and head somewhere else for 2 nights? I will be coming in by train from Paris and will be renting a car (although somewhat daunted by prospect of driving). I am eager to book something soon as I fear rooms are filling up.

There is one more hotel in the mix - Ateliers de L'Image. Any thoughts between this hotel and the 2 posted above?

I have visited the two you mention, Both are nice, but we stayed at the L'Hotel because it's on the main street of St Remy they have their own car park.
In case of bad weather or you are tired, or simly want to stay in, there's a pool table and a screen to show films which you can select yourself.

There's no reason to split up a 4-day stay in the area of St-Rémy - there's more than enough to keep you occupied for that length of time.

I don't know the Domaine de Valmouriane, but you really couldn't pick two more totally different properties than the Château des Alpilles and the Atelier des Images. If you're looking for a classic provençal feel, it would have to be the Château.

Another idea for you is a Maison D'Hote.

The Domaine de Valmouriane is quite nice; if you get a ground-floor room it comes with its own private patio. The rooms are large, as are the bathrooms, and the grounds are park-like. The pool is beautiful. But one of the best features is a gated parking lot, advisable in this area.
