Provence/French Riviera Itinerary help

We will be visiting the French Riviera for 4 days (Nice, Monaco and Eze are on the top of our list). Would we have time to visit the Provence (St. Remey, Aix-en Provence, Le Beaux, Cassis) for one or two days, or should we spend all of our trip at the French Riviera? Any itinerary suggestions? We will rent a car if we go to the Provence.

Also, any great hotel recommendatios?

There's a lot to do on the Riviera- be sure to go to the Jacques Cousteau museum in Monaco (actually an aquarium). We spent a full week there recently, and just scratched the surface. Provence is a fairly long drive. For a taste of a similar area, you can drive to Grasse (perfume factories that will blend your own) and stop at St. Paul de Vence on the way back.

What ethrush said. With only 4 days, stick to the coast. Cassis is on the coast and reachable by train, but it would be a long daytrip.

Last year we drove to Ste. Maxime took the boat over to St. Tropez and continued on to Provence. I think it is definitely worth the trip to drive to Provence!

Is it worth the drive for only 2 days??

That depends on you. Staying in Nice for 6 days is quite comfortable. Perhaps some shorter day trips from Nice would be better. Villefranche-sur-mer is a nice little side trip.

Stick to the Nice area. There are just as many cute little villages in the Nice hinterland and the Var backcountry as there are in Provence. You'll loose at least 1/2 day of vacation time driving to & from Provence. We've spent a total of 32 weeks exploring these two regions.

Do you have my 27+ page Cote d'Azur & Provence itinerary? There are plenty of things to do in my itinerary within 1 1/2 hrs of Nice (by car or train) that will keep you on-the-go for 7 days. e-mail me at [email protected] if you want a copy.

Hi! This summer I've visited the French Riviera with my family and have stayed at Relais de Font Mourier, which has been a very good starting point to explore the surrounding areas and cities. The relais has also lots of guest services like the swimming pool, WiFi, tennis court, turkish bath
Take a look:

This place looks very nice. I think we will stay in the Nice area, since we are only visiting for 4 days. Thanks!

When are you going? What is your hotel budget?

You already have a full plate with Nice, Monaco and Eze and only 4 days. On to planning what to see on those cities and how to get there.
