provence/cote d'azur-hotels

hotel-help needed: we are planning a 8-day-trip to the provence/la cote d'azur at the beginning oft septembre. we'd like to stay in the nice and cozy country-hotels, if possible, with swimmingpool... that cost not more than about 250 euro/dollar per night. can anybody give advise? thanks a lot in advance

go to www.provenceweb.com
select the village or town and a list will come up. My favorite place is Columbe Dór with some rooms at 260€

We spend most of our nights at B&Bs so we could afford a few nights at a posh place.

I couldn't agree more with Cigalechanta
but the spelling is ColOmbe (not U). The Hotel St Paul also in St Paul de Vence is charming with a pool but not in the same league- although very nice.
Chateau de la Chevre D'Or in Eze is supposed to be lovely (never stayed there). Also Le Cagnard in Cagnes sur Mer. These are all in the same general area so pick one.

Thanks mclaurie coming to my rescue. I hit the wrong key (I have the brochure right here)

Chevre dOr is lovely and expensive at the pinacle of the town of Eze. Hope you're renting a car for your time on the Riviera and if continuing into Provence.

And where in Provence are you interested in staying - it is really a large region?

I can highly recommend the Chateau Valmer, which is a short distance from San Tropez in La Croix Valmer.

I highly recommend Hotel le Pigonnet in Aix. I think they have a website.

We highly recommend either the Hotel Majestic or The Martinez in Cannes. Directly across the street from the ocean and great European Style.

Like Mclaurie said: you probably are looking for Chateau de la Chevre D'Or. I never stayed there, but I hiked up the mountain to the hotel and back. A wonderful view.
