Proper electricity converter for Italy
Greetings,
I went into the hardware store to buy a converter to take to Italy this summer to charge my digital camera battery and there are options! I don't remember options! Can any of you experts tell me what I need to bring? As always, Thanks, Susan |
Are you sure you need a converter? I am on my sixth digital camera and all I have ever needed was an adapter for the plug - check your charger - you'll probably find taht it is dual voltage
|
what are you calling a "converter"? If you mean a plug adaptor you want the two round pins.
If you really are talking about a power converter, most battery chargers are already dual voltage. |
Oh god! It's the adapter I want, for the plug. not the converter. I'm sorry! Thanks for the tip. So, the two pronged plug works?
|
Make sure you use the one for Europe. Recently I gave my brother a 2 prong adapter for France. When he got back he told me the pins were too short. It looks just like the Europe adapter but with shorter prongs. Don't know what this one is for. I always take them all when I travel.

Many outlets in Italy will be 3-prong like this one:
http://www.samstores.com/details.asp?ProdID=5948 You will also encounter 2-prong: http://www.amazon.com/Europe-Adapter.../dp/B000YB37P0 |
Most converter kits have the Northern or Southern Europe converter tips-some of my appliances notice the difference in the two so take both. Walmart seems to have the cheapest converter or adaptor kits around.I have never seen a 3 prong adapter in all my travels in Italy or Sicily?
|
dutyfree - Are you saying you have never encountered that type of grounded wall outlet in Italy or that you have never seen the 3-prong plug adapter?
|
I have never encountered the 3 prong in Italy-England, India,etc. I have.
