Promenade Plantee Paris
 

Has anyone walked the Promenade Plantee, the raised gardens similar to the High Line in NY? I have some info but no one's opinion of it. Thank you.

Yes, I've walked it on several occasions. It's peaceful and there are lots of plants, and it's a bit isolated from traffic noise. There are some interesting stops along the way, like the Jardin de Reuilly. The western part is elevated, but the eastern part is below ground level and a bit more jungle like. It extends all the way to the eastern city limit. There are usually lots of people on the elevated part and in the parks, somewhat fewer along the eastern part. It's a nice walk of several kilometers.

I, too, have enjoyed it and recommend it highly. It's a nice urban garden area. The Viaduct des Arts beneath the promenade is also interesting and merits a look and a walk to follow it for a block or two. Very interesting shops including musical instrument makers and even a place that irons linens, etc.

I like it very much. Watch the movie Before Sunset. A lot of the scenes are filmed there.

I enjoyed it; I thought it made a great change from the more traditional tourist walks. Caveat: I only walked the elevated part. It seemed to be a popular Sunday stroll, judging by the day I was there.

It is a very nice walk. The flowers are quite beautiful. I think you will enjoy it.

I also liked it--and loved the use of it for the shops beneath it even more.

Are here Rest Rooms along the route?

Will bus line 29 begin at Bastille and travel the entire Plantee route to a terminus as shown in the series of photos which by the way are formidable? A thousand thank yous.

There are some sanisettes just off the promenade at a few locations, but I don't recall seeing restrooms directly on the promenade (it's too small). There might be some at the Jardin de Reuilly.

Bus 29 parallels the promenade only as far as the Jardin de Reuilly. There aren't any lines that run next to it over its full length. The length of the promenade, including the eastern part out to the Périph, is about 4 km, which means about an hour's walk in total.

The greenhouses are magnificent!!

Do you mean the greenhouses in the Jardin des Plantes?? I don't remember any greenhouses associated with the Promenade Plantee.

Old topic or not, it's definitely worth investigation by tourists who have enough time to see more than the top list of monuments and museums.

If one could only enjoy half of the promenade, would you suggest the first half (closer to Bastille) or the second half (towards the périphérique?
