PRIX FIXE IN PARIS
So where do you get the best prix fixe menu in Paris?
|
We enjoyed the Old Recruiting Sargent (0r something similarly named) on Ile St Louis. It included house red or white wine.
|
I enjoyed the fixed menus at Bistro Romain near the base of the Grande Arche.
There are many restaurants offering fixed menus throughout the 5th, 6th and 7th, as well as all around Paris.
Do you have a certain price range in mind so people can recommend more restaurants for you?
Kavey

oh, about $35 or less.

Richard: You can get prix fixe menus in most restaurants even in very highly rated such as Le Grand Vefour or the Violon d'Ingres. All depends on the amount you want to spend. Personally, I like "Le Parc aux Cerfs" on Rue Vavin, 6th and "La Contre-Allee" on Ave Denfert-Rocherau, 14th. Depending on the number of courses (entree-main-course-dessert or just two courses) the price varies. Around FF 160.- which is about 27 E.
Both places very French with a lot of locals, not too many tourists.

Not sure of the exact name either but I know that the place Diane is talking about is the place we really liked on Ile St Louis. The waiter was very nice too!
|
think you mean Sargeant rigeur. food not outstanding but a lot of fun. more than you can eat. price is for unlimited sausge, cheese etc. gotta do it once during your stay.

Le Grand Vefour is not in the price range he mentioned; the prix fixe lunch last week was 70 euro. In my book, it is a "splurge"! And a very nice one, at that!
