Private tours from Rome

I am bringing my 75 year old mother to Rome later this year. We have both visited the city before and I'd be interested in hearing about companies that offer private tours (or at least a driver) to places outside the city, up to about 2 hours away from Rome. Somewhere that has some historical or artistic signifigance (which pretty much sums up the whole country, I know), with pretty scenery along the way and a good spot for lunch. My first thoughts about destination include either Assisi or Naples. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I've used Context and can highly recommend them.

Here's another company that offers tours outside Rome.

Assisi is about 2.5 hours from Rome and could be more depending where in Rome you're starting from.

Orvieto is about 1.5 hours but would not take up an entire day to explore. You could combine Orvieto with Todi and Spoleto.

These people came very highly recommended from a woman I have worked with. She raved about them:

We didn't use them because I speak and understand Italian, I don't see a deep need for the service. Secondly, they are expensive. I wrote to him and he was kind enough to write back an informative and personable letter.

If you don't speak the language, don't want to drive, and would like an Italian "friend" for the day or several days, they are supposed to be great. They mainly work with English speaking people. They will go where you want to go and will have many suggestions based on your interests. For two, you'd be picked up in a Mercedes sedan and you'd let the driver handle the rest.

Whatever you choose to do, best wishes and buon viaggio!

I've also used Context for several different tours - always been very happy with them.
