my wife and i will be italy from october 22 till october 31. we would like some recommendations on reasonable priced tour companies. they can be private or not private. we will be docking in rome on a cruise, naples and venice. we will have about 10-12 hours off the ship each day. except for venice we'll be there for 2 days. price doesn't matter.one thing that is important my wife and i will probably skip rome and do the country side like orvieto.any help would be appreciated.
thanks

You might get responses if you re-post your message and put Italy in the title. "Private tours" doesn't tell readers anything.

You say you want reasonably priced tour companies and then you say price doesn't matter. Which is it?

Have you been to Rome before? If not I would recommend you stay in Rome rather than go to Orvieto as there is so much more to see and experience in Rome.

If you really want to go to Orvieto then take the train from Termini station in Rome to Orvieto (about 1.5 hours). Then the funicular to the top and the shuttle to the Cathedral. There's a TI in the square to the right, across from the cathedral.

We found Venice very easy to see on our own.

We were supposed to tender into Amalfi, but docked in Naples instead. We had aranged for Giovanni from www.tourofitaly.com to take us on an all day tour of the Amalfi Coast, stopping in Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, and Ravello.

Precisely - private tours and reasonable don;t really go together.

Usually the cruises offers group tours that would be reasonable compared to any private tour - unless you're splitting the guide and private transport with a bunch more people.

Frankly - I would just do Venice yourself.

Naples you have to decide what you want to see - Pompeii? Capri? Amalfi Coast?

And agree that unless you've already seen a lot of Rome I would do it instead of Orvieto.
