Private tour guides in Italy
I need some names/websites/emails of private tour guides that you have used and enjoyed. We will be in Venice, Florence/Tuscany, Rome,Pompeii.
Thanks
|
I have never used any of these, but perhaps providing a first answer and bringing your question back to the top will help.

You will need to search here on this forum a little to find current opinions on these.

For Venice, the American Express tours seem to get good remarks.

For Rome, search for "Scala Reale" and/or eternaltourist ("Mayta"). Neither is exactly the perfect combination of price and value, but both are pretty good, I think.

Hope someone can help you with Florence/Tuscany. Although primarily based in Umbria/Assisi, you might have some luck with Anne Robichaud.

I don't recall any names for Pompeii.

Best wishes,

Rex
From a previous post here:

Author: Mary ([email protected])
Date: 11/10/1999, 08:16 pm

Message: E-mail Pauline Priori in Florence @ [email protected].

She's a tour guide in Florence and Tuscany and comes highly recommended! She speaks both English and Italian and is fabulous!

We just came back and used her for 2 1/2 day tours. One day she took us around Florence historic center, museums included, and the next morning took us to a winery in an old medieval castle in Chianti. The winery included wine tastings and lunch. She is fabulous.
