Private Guide for Rome tour ( by Van or limo)?
We will be in Rome in October with my husband's brother, wife, and their adult daughter. He would like to hire a guide to drive the 5 of us us to the main historical sites ( excluding the Vatican) as he cannot do a walking tour. Looking for something 5-6 hours long with a good does of history, and an English-speaking guide. Cost is really not important; quality is the main thing. Does anyone have good recommendations? Thank you so much.

Make sure the driver has a pass to get you near the sites, the ability to enter a car free zone.

We previously used Evan Firestone and really enjoyed it. We had a driver and it made for a very pleasant day. Evan's email is [email protected]

I've used Rome and Tuscany tours
http://romeandtuscanytours.com/ Stefano Rome tours http://www.stefanorometours.com/ http://www.romecabs.com/toursinitaly The Roman Guy https://tours.theromanguy.com/Italy_...e_Guided_Tours Just a FYI - In Italy, only registered and licensed guides can conduct tours at sites. So the drivers can provide commentary in/near the cars, but they can not take you into the Colosseum (for example) and give a tour. A couple of years ago, I did a day tour with Stefano Rome Tours and they made the arrangements for a licensed guide to meet us at the Forum/Colosseum and give us a tour. We paid the tour guide directly. |
Would we be better off booking a licensed guide and have him or her engage the driver? If so, which none? MI have read of Francesca Caruso! Marlene Sommer, and Daniela Hunt. I will check out Evan Firestone recommended above. And standouts?
We appreciate knowledge but also humor, and friendliness. |
