private guide for Paris

I can't speak french, interested in maximizing any time there: possibly 3 days plus or minus (versailes). Advise on an english speaking tour guide/private possibly for four adults. Possibly I could do the louvre, etc myself. Thanks. jdg

I second the recommendation. He's an American, he is both pleasant and knowledgeable, and his prices are quite reasonable. He will make your day(s).

:-)

Yes, e-mail Michael. He's really terrific!

LOL
Another vote for Michael !!

But do not expect a rapid response from your first enquiry !

MomDDTravel Feb 7th, 2010 08:28 PM

I think it depends on if you get lucky and he is online at the time. I had a good response but know that at times it can take a few - he is so busy out on the tours - it can be hard - do not give up if you need to send two emails :)

Yes Michael and if he's not available he can set you up with Scott, who is equally charming and knowledgeable

We spend a day or two with Michael or Scott whenever we're in Paris. We try to get there at least once a year. We always learn a lot from them and always have fun doing so!

Paris Walks. Many walks, all in English..and good! If you were rich, you could fly me over :)

There are some good books out there that give walking tour directions. Thirza Valois has a series of books for each arrondissements that combines directions with histroy of the area and the buildings.

The Louvre, I believe, has an english tour. Several people here have used Rick Steves tour of the museum.

He's also an artist, for whatever that means, so he would be more qualified in the Louvre/D'Orsay than many others.
